There has been a lot of talk about self-care lately. More and more people are realizing that taking care of themselves is so very important. Self-care can mean different things. To some, it might mean practicing yoga or meditating. To others, it means connecting with nature or going to the gym. Whatever your idea of self-care may be, it is important in these days and times of hectic schedules to take some time for yourself. Time to recharge. What you may not have thought about is how self-care for you can help your cat.
When we are happy, so are our cats
We all know how our energy affects our cats. When we are stressed out, our cats will pick up on it. They, in turn, will start demonstrating their own stress. Either in inappropriate behaviors or illness. Learning how to keep our own stress levels down will help to keep our cats happy and healthy. Managing stress levels is an important part of self-care. Finding ways to eliminate your stress to be happy and healthy is one way self-care can help your cat.
One of my favorite ways to unwind after a stressful day is to read. Curl up on the couch with a good book and a purring cat on my lap is absolute heaven to me. I can spend hours doing this. The best part is that my cats are included in this self-care routine. They are so happy to sleep on my lap, receiving pets and purring. Which also helps to lower my stress levels. There is scientific proof of the healing powers of the cat purr. So, this is a win-win for all involved.
Staying healthy for our cats
The sad realization is that our cats are never in our lives long enough. They are only with us for a part of our lives. But we are with them for their entire life. They depend on us for so much. And even though they know when we are sick or not feeling well, they still need to be taken care of. They would not understand if something serious happened to you. If you left and never came back. Staying healthy is not only important for us, but for our cats as well.
This is an area that I lack. I try to make time to practice healthy habits. I do manage to meditate almost every day. And at one point, I was practicing yoga daily. And then, life got busy, and yoga kept getting pushed further and further on the back burner. Making a conscious effort to include even a small yoga practice into my daily routine has been a challenge. But, remembering that my cats depend on me to be healthy and to remain in their lives has been a driving force for me. Plus, it is another way that my cats can participate in my self-care routine.
A lifetime together
Practicing self-care is so very important for us to stay happy and healthy. It is also important in order to keep our cats happy and healthy. Taking time to decompress, release stress, and maintain a healthy lifestyle. It is even better when we can include our cats in our self-care routines. Taking care of ourselves will go a long way in not only keeping ourselves happy and healthy but also keeping our cats happy and healthy. For me, that is the most important thing. For my cats to be happy and healthy and in my life for as long as possible.

Good afternoon,
Such a great reminder. Thank you. Life can get pretty darn busy. My cats hop up on my desk to remind me to take a break during the day.
