Ok, here is the deal. I know and believe in how my energy affects my cats. There have been a few articles talking about this very topic. And yet, I tend to be surprised when my cats respond to the energy that they are picking up from me. I never really notice the positive energy effects. It is always the negative energy that catches my attention. Usually because that results in drama and disagreements. That is exactly what happened this past week. Guess I needed some Woo Woo Energy Proof. Boy, did I get it.
The Buildup Into The Release
This school year has been a challenge. I haven’t been able to quite put my finger on it, but something is definitely different. This past Wednesday was a particularly tough day at school. There were some issues that had me feeling some kind of way. I had released all the negative feelings before I got home, or so I thought I had. Chatting on the phone with my sister later, I started telling her about the events of the day. Through my recounting of the events, my energy started to shift. I felt myself getting all worked up again.
Throughout the phone conversation and my steadily increasing stress, I noticed in passing that Bodie was showing signs of being agitated. However, I didn’t really put a lot of thought into it. Big mistake. As my stress, and voice, increased, so did Bodie’s agitation. So much so that, finally, boom. Bodie had to release all of that energy that he absorbed from me. And the chosen recipient for this energy release? Zazzles, of course. Thus began a ripple effect that lasted well into the next day.
Lesson Learned. Again.
At some point, I am going to learn my lesson. One day, I will start to practice what I preach. I have been constantly reminding my husband to check his energy around the cats. And what do I do? The exact opposite of what I preach. I am not saying that you always have to be happy and positive around your cats. Just giving a gentle reminder how our cats are little absorbing energy sponges.
Because we are still dealing with some cat drama between Zazzles, Bodie and Hemingway, I really need to be conscious of the state of my energy when I am around them. Their little disagreements only happen when I am home. They will be out and about with each other for hours coexisting peacefully. And then I come home, and something changes. They all want to be around me, but not around each other. I have to make a conscious effort to not worry when the involved parties are near each other. My anxiety rubs off on them. Call it self-fulfilling prophecy or woo woo energy proof or whatever, but it happens. And reminds me once again to check my energy.
“Unlike human beings, cats are emotionally honest, they never hide their feelings.”~Paul Corey
Great article. It’s so very true. I try hard to check in with myself throughout the day. My kitties do pretty well, but when there is a disagreement I have to try hard to make sure I STAY CALM. Same with when they won’t eat or don’t feel well. I have to try hard to breathe in deeply and stay calm.
I keep trying to remind David that he needs to breathe deeply before he comes in the house after work. That’s when the real chaos tends to take place. What is really amazing is when they can feel his stress even before he’s in the door….or maybe it’s my stress worrying about his stress.
