We are in the second week of Summer Break. It has taken a bit for my cats to get used to the new summer schedule. There is always an adjustment period when changing their normal routine. Gone are the days of having to wake up at 6 am, which means breakfast time has been adjusted. To say that they have not been happy with that change is an understatement. However, aside from the later breakfast time, my cats are happier with me home. For the next couple of months, I will be in summer mode with my cats.
Stress Free Days
One of the biggest perks of summer break is the stress-free days. Gone are the long school days filled with stress. The days where I am away from home more often with not enough time to do everything that I need to do when I am at home. Even weekends are full and rushed. Trying to get in everything that I didn’t get to do during the week crammed into 2 days. It is all so stressful. And my cats pick up on that stress with very noticeable signs.
During the school year, as much as I try to manage my stress, my cats are still affected by it. Stress affects our cats greatly. It shows up in illnesses and behavior issues. I have definitely seen the effects of the relaxed day to day. Everyone is more at ease. Lounging and relaxing are high priorities. Tensions have eased up among the cats, especially Zazzles, Bodie, and Hemingway. They have actually been occupying the same space without issues.
Happy and Healthy
If you have been following along with my blog, you know that we have been dealing with some health and behavior issues with some of my cats. Emmet was diagnosed with a heart condition. Pyewacket overcame a urinary blockage. As well as the ongoing tensions between Zazzles, Bodie, and Hemingway. A stressful environment was a big part of some of these issues. Once the stress was eliminated from the equation, then these issues started to resolve themselves.
However, eliminating the stress was not the only thing that has helped. We have done a lot of work on a soul level. Releasing trauma, moving energy, working through some deep-rooted issues. And not only for my cats. Working on myself has also greatly affected my cats. We have to remember how highly intelligent and intuitive our cats are. Our cats can be mirrors, forcing us to look within in order to not only help ourselves, but to help them as well.
Cat Days of Summer
For you the next couple of months, the cats and I will continue to enjoy the relaxed days of summer. We will spend leisurely days lounging on the screen porch. But we will also continue to work on soul level issues. We will meditate, use crystals to shift our energies, work to identify and release stored traumas and continue to work through any stress that might appear. We will be over here living our best lives and enjoying the cat days of summer.
