Animal Thoughts – Pea Horsley

Last weekend, I had the great pleasure of attending a Holistic Cat Conference hosted by Naturally Cats. It was a weekend full of amazing presenters sharing their expertise in many different areas. I was so excited to add so many more resources to my Cat Care Toolbelt. One of the sessions that excited me the most was Communicating with Your Cats presented by Animal Thoughts – Pea Horsley, world renowned Animal Communicator. Animal Communication has been a great interest to me over the past year now. To be able to learn from Pea was beyond humbling.

A Natural Ability

I am sure that some of you are thinking that this is crazy “woo woo” stuff. That there is no way we can communicate with animals. That is exactly what Pea thought when she mistakenly signed up for an animal communication workshop many years ago. By the end of the workshop, she realized that she could, and did, communicate with an animal. Did Pea have some kind of special ability? No, not at all.

This natural, innate ability to communicate with animals is something we are all born with, we have just suppressed it. We have all had instances of intuition, sixth sense, or just plain “gut feeling”. Most of the times we just pass it off as coincidence. Even though we all have this ability, we have allowed it to lie dormant. In order to fully strengthen our ability to communicate with animals, we have to practice. Pea compared it to learning a new language. You have to practice the language daily in order to be able to communicate fluently.

Did I Just Hear That?

The biggest obstacle with animal communication is getting out of our own way. It is hard for us to fully trust that we are actually communicating with our animals. We tend to second guess ourselves rather than trust what we are “hearing”. It is also difficult to discern whether the message that we are receiving is actually from our pet or what we “think” they would be saying.

Over the past few months, I have had some interesting experiences with my own cats. Last July, when I knew our sweet Prudance’s time was nearing, I placed her in her favorite sunspot. As I was giving her lots of love and pets, I asked her what she needed. Instantly, I saw the image from The Green Mile when the character, John Coffey, says “I’m tired, Boss.” I knew then what I needed to do. When Emmet was dealing with his GI tract mass, he was on antibiotics. One night, towards the end of his round of antibiotics, I snagged him to give him his nightly dose. He struggled with me, which was odd because he has always been great with taking medicine. I asked him what was wrong and as clear as could be, I heard “I don’t need this anymore.” A few days later, at Emmet’s follow-up vet appointment, we were told that he did not need another round of antibiotics. Emmet was right and communicated that with me.

Fine-tuning

It would have been easy to pass those instances off as coincidence or even just my imagination. However, because I have been learning more about animal communication and practicing on fine-tuning my own abilities, I was able to accept those messages for what there were. Communications from my cats. This is so very exciting for me. To have the ability to help my cats live happier and healthier lives. Yet another resource in my Cat Care Toolbelt. I have just started working on strengthening my communication skills. It does take practice. For me, the hardest part is quieting my mind. Being still and allowing the messages to come.

I have tried to work with Bodie, Zazzles and Hemingway to see what I need to do to help create peace and harmony between them. I swear Bodie has told me numerous times that he does not like Zazzles and wants him to go back to where he came from. That makes sense to me being that Zazzles was once a Kracken Kitty and lived downstairs. However, I am not sure how to communicate back that Zazzles can not go back downstairs and what to do to help Bodie accept this. I might need to reach out to someone with more experience. When I do, I will definitely share it all with you.
