Deeper Look At Litter Box Issues

If you have a cat, then you have probably dealt with some kind of inappropriate litter box behaviors at some point. There are many reasons why your cat will start to demonstrate these behaviors. None of them are because your cat is being a jerk or because they don’t know where the litter box is located. I have gone over the physical reasons for inappropriate litter box behaviors, such as health issues, litter issues, and location. Now, we are going to take a deeper look at litter box issues. The metaphysical reasons why your cat may be demonstrating some litter box issues.

Problems in the Cat’s Life

Litter box issues are associated with the bladder. Obviously. However, when issues happened that are associated with the bladder, this is usually related to the “stress” on the bladder. Something that the cat is holding in. A pressure and the desire to release that pressure. They are dealing with the felling of having to “hold things in” and the inability of not being able to release is what may be causing those inappropriate litter box issues.

One of the main problems in your cat’s life may be the feeling of not being accepted or being bullied. There may be some tensions among your cats that have been ignored and this demonstration of inappropriate bathroom behaviors is their drastic way of calling attention to the real problem. Your cat could also be dealing with pressure coming from some other area in their life. Maybe you changed their food or moved around some furniture. Even the smallest change can cause great tension in our cat’s lives.

Problems in Your Life

Because our cats are amazing at picking up on our own energy, their inappropriate litter box behaviors could be coming from you. The more cats that I work with, the more I realize the deep connection our cats have to what is going on in our own lives. They hold parallels to issues that we may be dealing with ourselves. Where do we have stress or pressure? what things are we holding onto that need to be released?

Are we feeling that we are not good enough? Do we feel like we may not have a voice or are being heard? Maybe we are taking on too much responsibility and refuse to ask for help. I have experienced this just recently with Hemingway. School has started and the crazy, chaotic schedule that come with it. I find myself wondering how to add more hours to my day. As my list of tasks increases, my stress levels do as well. Over the past couple of days, Hemingway has drawn attention to this by pooping in the bathtub. It is my sign that I need to take some time to recharge and maybe, just maybe, learn how to say no or ask for help.

Where is the Key

Paying attention to where your cat is inappropriately using the litter box can be key to helping rectify these issues. Are these issues happening in your work area? Could be a sign that you are dealing with stress at work and taking on too much. If you are dealing with issues of self-image, the issues could present themselves in your bathroom, bedroom, or where you get ready for the day. In your shoes or around doors are a good sign that the issues are related to unwanted visitors or being forced to leave when you don’t want to.

Taking notice of where your cat is inappropriately using the bathroom and how that may parallel to you own life will help you help your cat. Remember, they are not doing any of this just to be jerks. Keep in mind that our cats are in our lives to serve a purpose with lessons for us to learn. This is just another way for them to help us learn. To force us to take a look within and see what areas of our lives that we need to work on. Helping yourself will always help your cat. So, take a deeper look at your cat’s litter box issues and see exactly what they are trying to tell you.
