My “WHY”!

Some of my babies and my why.

It has been almost 6 months since I started this blog. Wow! Time sure does fly. In that time, I have written articles on topics ranging from supplements to raw diets to energy work and more. I am always thinking about what my next article will cover and each week, something always happens that I know will need to be written about. It always amazes me how that happens. There I am just wondering what I should talk about next and BOOM! the next topic falls into my lap.

And that is exactly how this article came to fruition. I had originally planned on writing about compassion fatigue that is felt throughout the rescue community. It was started and moving along nicely. Then, I had the extreme pleasure of chatting personally with Julie-Anne Thorne from Naturally Cats. It was a great conversation. The kind you can only have with another cat lover. During the conversation, the question of why came up. Why did I decide to create this blog? And then, BOOM! the topic of today’s article took a turn.

A Voice

After my conversation with Julie-Anne, I went back to my new obsession, binge-watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. As I sat there watching, trying to continue the compassion fatigue article, the earlier conversation kept swirling around in my head. Why did I start this blog? Why am I writing articles that maybe only a few people actually read? What am I hoping to accomplish? And just like that, the Universe sent me the answer to those questions through Midge Maisel.

I just started Season 4, Episode 1 and Midge is doing a stand-up set where she is talking about advice that her father gave her about her comedy. He said, “…a voice is a powerful thing. It can shine a light on something that is hiding in the dark. It can change the way people think, which can change the way people act. But it can’t do anything if you keep your mouth shut.” Thank you, Universe! That is it. That is my why. I want to be a voice. A voice that can change the way people think and, maybe, in turn, change the way they act. Julie-Anne’s motto is #givingcatsavoice and I love that. It is such a great concept and one that is needed.

A Small Voice

My voice may be small right now, but it has a lot to say. My voice is for the stray cats that lives are made better through TNR projects. A voice for the cats that would benefit through energy work. The cats who are struggling with a disease or illness that could be eased through a change in diet and supplements. But most of all, a voice for the cat parents who want to provide for their cats in the best way possible. All the people out there who deeply love not only the cats in their lives, but all of the cats.

My goal is to help the humans, which in turn will ultimately help the cats. If I can reach one cat parent about topics like the benefits of switching their cat to a raw diet or adding supplements, then I have helped that cat. For me, that is the most important thing. I want to help others find answers to questions they might have about their cats. Help them see their cats as part of their family with a personality and needs and wants. If my articles are able to reach just one person and help them provide their cat with the best possible care, then I have reached success. All it takes is just one. One small pebble thrown into the ocean can create the biggest ripples. Imagine if we all threw a pebble.

5 pieces of my heart.
