We all know about the Act of Gratitude. The more you are thankful for the more you will have to be thankful for. This concept applies for our cats as well. Looking at our cats with an act of gratitude for all that they do for us, no matter what. Whether it is bringing us joy and laughs, or stress and tears, it is all something to be grateful for. Over the past few months, I have learned the importance of having gratitude for my cats.
A Mindset
We must remember how powerful our thoughts can be. Thoughts become things. When we focus on anything negative that might be going on with our cats, we are actually putting those negative thoughts into fruition. Focusing on our cat’s illness, actually can bring more illness to them. We need to train our minds to put the focus on the positives. Being grateful for all of the positives, even the illness. There are always lessons for us to learn from our cats, even when they are sick.
For the majority of Emmet’s life, he has been dealing with health issues of some sort. First, we thought he had FIP. Nope. Then, he was doing really well and thriving. Last year, we found a mass in his GI tract, which we were convinced was cancer. Fortunately, the biopsy showed it was not cancer. However, he still needs to take medicine each day to keep the inflammation down. If anyone has ever tried to give a cat a pill, you know how difficult it can be. Luckily, Emmet is actually pretty good at taking his medicine. One of the tricks that I started was to stop calling it “medicine”. We call it his “feel goods” because that is what it does. It makes him feel good.
Vibrational Frequency
Everything is energy and has a vibrational frequency. Our thoughts and words are no different. When we choose to think or say positive thoughts and words, our vibrational frequency increases. The same goes for our emotions. Stress, worry, and sadness all have low frequencies. While joy, happiness, and gratitude have high frequencies. Choosing to use the words, “feel goods”, when I give Emmet his medicine, increases my vibrational frequency which in turn raises his. A higher frequency allows him to be more willing to take his medicine and, in turn, allows the medicine to work better.
We all have those times when our cats are causing us stress or worry. I have learned that by dwelling on the issues that are bringing those emotions, I am, in fact, giving power to those emotions. Lowering my vibrational frequency. Which, in turn, lowers my cat’s frequencies. It is a vicious cycle. If we take a moment to acknowledge the negative emotions and then release them and replace them with positive emotions, we will notice a change in our cats. I know that is easier said than done, but I assure you that it will work.
The Good & The Bad
Having an attitude of gratitude with our cats may be difficult but it is necessary. There is always something to be grateful for. Their cute little meows. Purrs and biscuits made daily. The excitement they have when they see a bird out the window. Lots to be grateful for. Even when things are not going so well, we can find something to be grateful for. With Emmet, instead of dwelling on the fact that his has to take daily medication, I am grateful that he is doing so well on a micro dose. Although we still have some tension between Bodie and Zazzles, I am grateful that they are learning to co-exist with each other. Focusing on having gratitude brings more to be grateful for. So, practice having gratitude for your cats and watch more reasons for gratitude start appearing.
