With Love and Best Intentions

Some of my babies living their best lives.

If you know me or have been following me for a while, you know that I go above and beyond for my cats. Species appropriate raw diet, daily supplements and all kinds of mental, physical, emotional and spiritual enrichment. The more I learn about ways to provide them with a happy and healthy life, the more I change or include. And I, usually, write about it. Some of my articles have brought a lot of feedback, especially anytime I write about food. Guilt seems to be a common emotion. Making someone feel guilty has never been nor will ever be my intention. I write my articles to inform and provide my readers with resources. No matter how you choose to care for your babies is your choice. If you can only afford to feed Friskies that is ok. All that matters is that you do everything you can to provide for your cats with love and best intentions.

Nowhere Near Purrfect

I truly believe in and implement everything that I write about. How hypocritical would it be to not? However, I am not perfect by any means. Yes, I 100% believe in feeding my cats a species appropriate raw diet. Unfortunately, not all of my 18 cats are fed raw at this point. A raw diet is costly and not something that I can afford at this point. I, also, believe that kibble is probably the worst thing you can feed your cats. But, once again, I have kibble addicted cats who will absolutely go on a hunger strike if they do not get some kibble. So, I cave and give them some. Above all else, your cat needs to eat.

The Good Life.

Because I know that cats get their moisture from their food, I have increased their wet food intake. I have been able to transition the Cat House Cats to a better wet food. They still get some dry food each day, but not as much as they used to. Sadly, the Kracken Kitties refuse to eat anything other than Fancy Feast, which is not horrible but… A few of them are really kibble addicted and will absolutely refuse to eat anything if I don’t give them some dry food. It does make you wonder what they put in kibble to make it so addictive to cats. However, no matter what I am feeding, I feed with absolute love and best intentions.

Leave the Guilt

We all love our cats. They are an important part of our family. We want to do the best we can for them. It is easy for us to get caught up in feeling guilty. Trust me, I have been there. There are still feelings of guilt over Zazzles developing anemia from fleas because I refused to use chemical flea products. I have had to remind myself that he survived and is healthy and that, I was making my choice with love and best intentions. I wasn’t intentionally trying to make my cats sick. Every choice and decision that I make in regard to my cats comes from a place of love and with the best intentions. And that is the most important thing. We need to remember to leave the guilt out of it.

With love and best intentions.

A home without a cat – and a well-fed, well-petted and properly revered cat – may be a perfect home, perhaps but how can it prove title? – Mark Twain
