The Residents’ Mew Year’s Resolutions

Some of the Resident Crew

Although I tend to lean towards Manifesting the Best 2023, rather than making Resolutions for the New Year, I thought it would be fun to see what the Resident Cats’ resolutions for the New Year would be. As if cats cared about those kinds of things. Anyways, after some long conversations and deliberations with the Resident Cats, we have come up with their resolutions for the New Year. We shall see how well they stick to them as the year progresses. So, here are the Residents’ Mew Year’s Resolutions.

Sloopy

Sloopy’s Mew Year Resolution is to be less grumpy..

According to Sloopy, he does not need to make any resolutions because he is perfect just the way he is. I told him that everyone had areas that could be worked on. With that being said, he finally decided that he would appease me. After some deep thought, Sloopy decided that he would resolve to be less grumpy. I reminded him that he is an old man and therefore, is allowed to be grumpy on some level. He did not appreciate that. For him, being less grumpy means that he will not attack Zazzles for just being too close to him or randomly jump on whatever or whoever is around him whenever he sees Hemingway.

Bodie’s Mew Year Resolutions

Bodie’s Mew Year Resolution is to not be a bully.

To Bodie, resolutions seem like a way to point out what is wrong with your life. He truly is pretty content with his life. Upon reflection, Bodie did realize that there were some areas that he could work on. Although he knows that his tendency to “bully” Zazzles and Emmet stem from a place of insecurity, Bodie has made the resolution to be more accepting of them and not to “stalk” them when he needs some attention. He also resolves not to be jealous when Lily and Cactus choose to play with Zazzles and not him.

Hemingway’s Mew Year Resolutions

My sweet boy, Hemingway, thought long and hard about his New Year’s Resolution. He is my perfectionist, so it doesn’t surprise me that he had to get his resolution just right. Hemingway has resolved to give Zazzles a 2nd chance. We have had some literal cat fights between the two of them. Zazzles has been doing better about not challenging the other cats. However, Hemingway is still holding a grudge against him. So much so, that if he even sees Emmet or Lily, he growls, hisses and goes running for cover. So, Hemingway has resolved to be more accepting of Zazzles and not take his PTSD out on Emmet and Lily.

Emmet’s Mew Year Resolutions

Emmet’s Mew Year Resolution is to continue to be healthy.

Handsome mini panther, Emmet, has made the decision that his resolution will revolve around his health. The past few months have been rough for poor Emmet. We are still unsure about the origin of his unremovable GI mass. However, he has resolved that he will continue to eat like a good boy. Taking his medication and daily supplements will also continue to be top priority. He has also resolved to stop eating the Christmas tree. Emmet threw in a last-minute resolution that he will continue to be my most handsome mini panther. Way to be humble, Emmet.

Zazzles’ Mew Year Resolutions

New Kid on the Block, Zazzles worked hard on his resolution. He wanted to make sure that he was going to make me happy with his choice. I told him that wasn’t the way resolutions worked. It needed to be something that he truly wanted to work on. After that, he went back to the drawing board. Finally, Zazzles came back with 2 resolutions. The 1st that he would stop trying to challenge Bodie and Hemingway for the Alpha position. He has realized that he does not need to be Top Cat. His 2nd resolution is that he will try really hard to stop batting his favorite ball toy under the couch and then insistently meowing at me to get it 800 times a day. Yeah, right, we shall see how that last one goes.

Lily’s Mew Year Resolutions

As one of The Gremlin Kittens, Lily is still young and learning and growing. She is still trying to figure out who she is going to be when she grows up. However, she has resolved to not eat her Minnow Munchies from The-Two-Crazy-Cat-Ladies so fast that she promptly throws them up. She has resolved to take her time eating them, savoring them and all of their yumminess.

Cactus’ Mew Year Resolutions

The other half of the Gremlin Kittens, Cactus is also young and growing into herself as a cat. She is full of confidence and curiosity as long as it is just me and Ryan at home. As soon as someone new shows up, Cactus goes into hiding and stay hidden for a while after they leave. For the new year, Cactus has resolved to not be such a scaredy cat. She will work hard on being brave and building up her self-confidence.

Here’s to a Ameowzing Mew Year

I hope you have enjoyed reading the Residents’ Mew Year Resolutions. As I was writing this, I realized that we still have some work to do with the acceptance of Zazzles into the Resident Crew. We have come a long way in the past few months, but there are still some issues that need to be resolved. Hopefully their resolutions will help ease things up around the house. That is if they can keep their resolutions throughout the year. I will keep you posted. Wishing everyone the Most Ameowzing Mew Year and may your resolutions help you become a stronger and better version of yourself. Here’s to 2023!

Wishing you a Happy Mew Year!
