Your Cat’s Archetype

Emmet is one of my Joybringers.

I am a firm believer that we are guided to and along paths that we are supposed to be on. This guidance can come from many different sources. Some may call it coincidence, but I don’t believe in coincidence. I believe that everything happens for a reason, and I don’t question when I am guided in a certain direction anymore. So, when I “happened” upon Sylvie Sterling, I didn’t hesitate and just went down the rabbit hole. And I was not disappointed. Learning about how to determine your cat’s archetype and how that relates to their purpose in your life has been fascinating. It has allowed me to connect with them on a different level.

10 Cat Archetypes

Sylvie Sterling is a cat whisperer and an awakening coach. She has dedicated her life to being a voice for cats and helping their humans understand their purpose in life. Right up my alley. I know that my cats are little furry teachers who are in my life to teach me lessons and guide me along my path. Having another resource to help me strengthen my bond with my cats, as well as helping them live their happiest life really excited me. Learning about the 10 Cat Archetypes and how to determine your cat’s archetype open a whole new world for me. Although fun, it was challenging to try to determine which cat was which archetype. Sylvie has a free e-book download to help you determine which archetype your cat is.

My Lily Bell’s Sweet Face

Some of my cats were difficult to determine their archetype. They seemed to have some qualities of multiple archetypes. Most of them seemed to be The Lover, always wanting to be around me. But that is natural for my cats. They do love me, but is that their archetype? Is that their purpose to just love me? I had to look deeper. Trust my gut. Maybe even ask them which archetype they are. while some of them proved to be more difficult to determine, others, like Zazzles, Lily, and Emmet, were very easy to pin down their archetype.

The Joybringers

Reading through the archetypes, I was quick to determine the main archetypes for Emmet, Lily, and Zazzles. Although, they also demonstrated the characteristics of The Lover, as well as some of the others, 2 archetypes really stood out for them. Emmet and Lily are definitely my Joybringers. There is a sense of happiness that just exudes off of them. No matter my mood, they both always have the ability to put a smile on my face. Lily Bell is the newest addition to the house and just seeing her makes my heart smile. She is full of life and takes every opportunity to enjoy all that life has to offer. She reminds me to stop and enjoy life as well.

Emmet is my other Joybringer. He has been through so much in his 5 years on this plane. In and out of the vet’s. Thought to have FIP. And then, having a mass in his GI tract that we were sure was Cancer. Thankfully, it was not, but he is back on low dosage of steroids with monthly check-ups to ensure that the mass doesn’t come back. Through it all, Emmet has remained a happy and playful cat. He has these green wool balls that he loves to carry around in his mouth so he can drop them down the stairs and then chase after. He absolutely loves life. And that is why he is my Joybringer. Through all that he has been through, he still loves life and is happy. He is a reminder that adversity does not define you. You can still find happiness and joy even on the hardest of days.

The Protector

And now, Zazzles. At first, I instantly thought Zazzles was The Lover. There is a level of love that exudes from him. The way he looks at me. Almost as if he is looking into my soul. However, after reading the rest of the archetypes, I realized that Zazzles is The Protector. He is my protector. He sleeps right beside my head every night. Follows me around and sits at my feet just like a dog. He follows me to the bathroom, sitting at my feet to protect me during a vulnerable moment. I have seen him step in front of me, growling and on defense, when he sees or hears something that he perceives as a threat. I don’t need a dog, because I have Zazzles and I believe he could do a lot more damage.

With Zazzles as my protector, I have to keep my energy in check. If I am on edge, so is Zazzles. he reminds me to breathe and take things in stride. I have witnessed him get defensive with the other cats if I am upset. He will come and sit by me if he senses that I am stressed. Because he is so in tuned to my emotions and feelings, I have to remind myself to keep them in check. That way I am not causing him unnecessary stress.

Next Step

So, now that I know the archetypes of 3 of my cats what are the next steps. Determining their archetypes is just the first step. What I do with this information is the important part. I am learning what I need to do to support them and their purpose in my life. Taking time to listen to the lessons that they have for me. Being there for them as much as they are for me. It excites me to have another resource in my Cat Care Tool Kit. One that will help me strengthen my bond with my cats. Knowing their purposes in my life will also help them, keeping them happy and healthy. I can’t wait to learn what my other cat’s archetypes are. I will keep everyone posted.
